Thanks Gomes!

First of all she is not a Zooppa.com employee and It is a great idea to do something in the future for Japan, yes. Thank you again.

As for the high amount of voting and the links your provided: this is a very gray area. We cannot control the content other people put up on youtube or Tongal. We have no say over what people post on other sites. We had the same thing happen when the earthquake hit in Haiti.

PLUS we cannot say for sure if she will actually give her award to the cause she claims to support.

Hope this addresses your concerns. I’ll be here to answer any more of your questions!

Thanks,
Manny

In her profile says she is from Mexico. Competition (Sharer) was not only to U.S. residents?

There are 3 ways of winning in the Hormel contest.

1. Client Award. Hormel will pick
2. Community Vote, The community picks. This is where we check out suspicious voting activities.
3. Sharing Sweepstakes.

The only one that is limited to US residents is the Sharing Contest, number 3.

If you had this experience at the time of the earthquake Haity, because you have not taken a step?
So: Do you support this kind of action regardless of whether the money will reach the needy?
The business is generating traffic to the client and win the smartest?

We discourage these kinds of practices but, again, we have no jurisdiction over what people post on other websites, outside of Zooppa.com.

Wow, this is simple. (in regulations) Attention is forbidden to use the contest, promising any kind of humanitarian aid. This will disqualify the ZOOPPA because it is unfair competition. Bring your ideas for humanitarian aid, which will be analyzed.

It is very sad that Zooppa not see the side of all Zooppers. It seems that the deal is only seen by one side. It’s good for the customer? Misfortune of others.
Thank you for your attention .

Hi Folks-

I just wanted to jump in here…

Generally, we try to keep people from promoting their submissions within the Zooppa community. We don’t really want filmmakers or graphic designers jumping into forums, into comments threads – just trying to push people to vote for their work.

That’s spammy.

On the other hand, we do like it (and our clients like it) when filmmakers and graphic designers reach out to their own friends and family to share their work, and to try to drum up votes. That seems less spammy.

However, Zooppa has no control over the messaging that any filmmaker or graphic designer uses outside of Zooppa to try to drum up support for their creation.

It could very well be the case that a person will donate any proceedings to a worthy cause. Or, they could be pulling the wool over people’s eyes. But it’s not up to Zooppa to judge whether a person is going to follow through with anything they promise…especially when they’re making promises outside of Zooppa.

We’re going to continue to do what we can to keep people from spammy behavior on the site. But that’s as far as our jurisdiction goes!

Anyway. Thanks for participating in Zooppa, and thanks for the healthy discussion.

Josh

Hi Everyone -

This is kind of an important announcement.

With one day left in the Hormel competition, I realized that there was no Hormel Logo in the materials files.

—> there are plenty of Compleats package shots, but there wasn’t a Hormel Logo

The brief does say it requires a Hormel Logo to be included in the closing frames…So we’re going to have to relax that requirement.

I’ve changed the requirements to say “Use Hormel logo or one of the Compleats package shots at the end of your video”, which puts most videos in compliance.

And I’ve put a Hormel logo in the materials files.

Most people just used one of the Hormel Compleats product shots as a closing frame.

But since it was Zooppa that messed this up, we have to be flexible on this requirement.

If you closed your video with a Hormel Logo, that’s great. If you closed it with a Compleats product shot, that works, too. If you didn’t close your video with either, we’re going to have to live with that – but of course, if you edit your videos to include either the logo or one of the product shots, we’d be happy!

Two days left….It’s going to be exciting!

We ended up pulling it from the brief .pdf as a layer which isn’t a problem if you have Photoshop or something like that. Obviously, some users won’t have PS – so thanks.

There are a number of ways we are discovering fraudulent voting and we want to assure you that we are executing these methods to the fullest extent.

Hey Manny,

Without revealing any ‘secrets’ can you tell us what prompts an investigation into voting fraud? IP address alone? Rate of votes coming in? I’ll admit i’m rather chagrined and amazed when I see an entry from a relative newcomer move some 40+ places in a matter of hours. (I’ve witnessed one advance significantly in little more time that it took me to write this).

Hey there,

I won’t shy away from acknowledging that appealing to people’s emotions will garner attention. I mean that’s what good marketing is all about! I’m referring to the last voting incident discussed earlier in this thread.

Things tend to get pretty busy on the site at the end of a contest. A meticulous Zoopper will go to great lengths to get votes, certainly. The tough part about our job is checking whether those votes are organic.

That being said, I’ll answer your question, one of the first indications come from you. Yes, you. The alarm was raised on the forum and we made it a priority. This isn’t the only warning signal we get but it is one that we take super serious.

Thanks!
Manny

We are sticking to the 30 second rule, yes.

I also want to add that if the video technically is longer than 30 seconds but after the 30 seconds it’s a blank screen or something that doesn’t add to the video, we will not mind that.

Thanks!

Good to know as our media encoder has a bug that adds black to end of clips.

Hi All!

We’re reaching a VERY exciting conclusion of the Hormel video competition.

I just wanted to remind everyone to submit as early as humanly (as editorially?) possible. The upload process, and the encode process at the end of competitions can get bogged down, and errors become more likely.

—> if you are experiencing technical errors that are no fault of your own, please email us at zooppa.usa@zooppa.com BEFORE the 4pm PDT end of the competition.

We will help you get your video in.

Best of luck to everybody.

Ok thank you! I am uploading the 30-sec version now.
How do I remove the first video? I could not find how.

Thanks for answering that!
We appreciate it.

Yup, the video cannot go over 30 seconds. We’re making exceptions to vids that have blank screens making the video just a little longer and those that have extra stuff around the actual commercial. But the video of the commercial cannot go over 30 seconds. I hope that’s clear!
