Greetings Zooppa Community!

MyCube, a new social content exchange network coming this January, has launched a new contest! There’s $10,000 in prizes up for grabs! I’m super excited to see what you fine folks can come up with. This will be the first contest that I will be seeing from start to finish as the new community manager, so do me proud, filmmakers.

YOUR MISSION

Create a 30-to-60-second video that tells the story of a person who uses MyCube’s “social content exchange” to share photos, videos and conversation and to connect with others who share their passions.

It could be two people from opposite ends of the Earth connecting over photos of an obscure form of martial arts, videos featuring a little known club DJ, or some aviation aficionados sharing their blogs about the latest and greatest airshow experience.

Winning videos will ultimately be used by MyCube to promote their website online, so they should be informative and explain MyCube’s concept while imaginatively creative and compelling. Tell us a story about how MyCube unites people with common interests.

Here we have some info straight from the MyCube site:

“MyCube is the world’s first Social Exchange™, allowing individuals and organizations to store and share their information, updates and content with others, while retaining full privacy, ownership and control.

MyCube believes that your “digital identity” – the collection of your online content, communications and interactions – is YOURS. Meaning yours to own, yours to control, and yours to share with others as you see fit."

it says the end must have the my cube logo, but is it okay if we animate it a little? or does it have to be the static jpeg they gave us?

It would be helpful if we were provided with sample screenshots of the website or even accounts to get a better feel of what it is we’re promoting. I requested an invitation for an account, but it apparently “takes a few weeks” for approval, beyond the deadline of the competition. The website/blog do not provide much information beyond what is stated in the creative brief. Would it be possible to provide sample accounts for the purpose of getting a feel of the MyCube website, or perhaps express approval of invitation requests of us that are intending on entering the competition?

Also, which aspect of the site does the client want the ads to focus on? The two main features I can identify are the content exchange (being able to share/buy/sell content) and the connecting with others with the same interests. In other words, is the ability to retain copyright and profit on shared content to be highlighted, or the ability to connect with other people sharing the same interest, or an equal balance of both?

Answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Hey kfurrh, animating it should be fine. Just don’t change the aspect ratio.

No, multiple copies of your same ad won’t make you more likely to win. If you submit a whole bunch of different ads of stellar quality, that might help you win, just because it gives you more horses in the race, and more of a chance that you’ve hit the clients tastes right on with one of them.

Great questions! I’ll do the best I can to answer.

1) Can we have screenshots?

No. Unfortunately, the MyCube site isn’t slated to go live until January 2012. The MyCube site update has the best information we can get on the user experience. Popular content will be presented in big colorful squares (less popular content will be in smaller squares.)

Instead of trying to go literal, you might use aspirational images (cute children sharing something excitedly, etc.) to get the point across.

2) Sell my content vs. connect with others?

Connect with others should be primary. But bonus credit for mentioning that you can sell content.

I was just wondering if there is something wrong with your viewcount system. Because the top few videos have scores that far outmatch their viewcount. Seeing as there is an award for the top voted video, I would like to know if there is something funny going on there or it’s just a glitch in the viewcount updating.

The view count is based on actually clicking play on the video. You can still go to the page and vote without hitting play on the video, and many people encourage their friends to sign up for Zooppa and vote for their videos.

That being said, there are ways to detect voting fraud that we will implement, and when awards are announced at the end, it will be based on real votes and not fraudulent votes.

One big no-no is one person signing up with multiple accounts and voting with each account for a single submission. One person gets one chance to vote per video, and if multiple accounts are discovered, those votes will be removed.

Hope that helps clear it up. Like Smokey the Bear says: “Only You Can Prevent Voter Fraud. Except That Also Zooppa Can Prevent Voter Fraud”…or something like that. I’m paraphrasing.

I think there is something wrong with the “Views Count”. Since I uploaded my video. There are only 3 views. and I know at least 10 people (friend) from different computers and different places had watched my video.
