When do you plan on showing the prizes for this contest? Hopefully not 4 days before it ends… right? ;)

Hi Cauthier,

All the prizes are up except for the $5,000 in creative technology & consumer electronics prizes, and details about the trip to Africa.

We are working with the CMO council to get details and we will post the details ASAP.

Maybe it’s a silly question, but I have a doubt: in the brief files, there’s “southafrica_brandguidelines” with the brand colours’ palette. So, we have to use only the colours in this guide?
Thank you very much!

That’s a great question. The color palette is for graphic elements such as text and original design work.

I hope that’s clear :)

In the brief there are some links to royalty free pictures: can I freely use images from www.mediaclubsouthafrica.com or should I ask permission to someone? I read terms and conditions of use, but still not clear to me.

@FrancyDesign – sorry, I thought I’d seen all the posts in this forum. But somehow I missed yours!

Here’s a link to the terms of use for the South Africa Media Club images:

http://www.mediaclubsouthafrica.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1256

It looks like you have to register with the South Africa Media Club to get access to their 2000 images:

http://www.mediaclubsouthafrica.co.za/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=registers

After you register, you can download the images. For any image you use, you must provide a link to the South Africa Media Club:

MediaClubSouthAfrica.com

And you must credit the photographer, for example: “photographer: Roger Bosch”. You could include both the link and the credit in the description field for your ad.

Thanks for the question FrancyDesign! Sorry it took so long to respond. But it looks like this should be a good source of images.

Hi Omar- Welcome to Zooppa. It’s kind of crazy that the difference between these awards isn’t explained better. We’re going to have to figure out a better way to make the difference evident.

But Anyway…

“Client” awards are decided upon by the client. So the people in charge of South Africa country marketing will decide these awards. The sponsor of the contest decides the client awards.

“Zooppa” awards are decided by Zooppa staff.

“Community” awards are decided by votes within the community. To see which ads are leading in votes, when viewing all the ads, choose to sort them by “Most Voted”. When you are logged in, you can vote for as many ads as you wish.

Only people within the Zooppa community are allowed to vote, so to have a chance to win the community vote, it’s a good idea to promote your work to your friends and family (with instructions to sign up for Zooppa and vote for your work).

While we’re at it, I suppose I might take this opportunity to stress some fundamentals of marketing writing.

When promoting your work to your friends and family, in your written communications, it’s a good idea to tell them three things:

1) What you’re contacting them about and why it’s important to THEM (because they’re your friend, and they should want to see you win!)

2) What you want them to DO (sign in to Zooppa & vote for your work)

3) Tell them HOW they can do it (give them a URL for Zooppa signup, and a URL for the ad you want them to vote for)

Thanks for asking, Omar- I hope this explains everything for you.

Hi Omar-

You can for sure use this other footage.

Just like any Zooppa competition, as long as the footage and images you use are not copyrighted, you’re free to use them. The South Africa contest is a little different from other contests in that they provided us with SO many resources for images and footage! But you’re free to use (or not use!) these materials at your discretion in your ads.

Hi Gasit-

This contest has “client” awards, “Zooppa” awards, and “Community” awards.

“Client” awards are chosen by the client, in this case, the client is the South African country marketing leaders and the Chief Marketing Officer Council. People from those organizations will choose client awards for this contest.

“Zooppa” awards are decided upon by Zooppa staff.

“Community” awards are determined by community votes- The Zooppa community decides what ads they like best, and vote for them. For this award, it is a good idea to promote your work among your friends and family, and try to get them to sign into Zooppa & vote for you.

Does that answer your questions?

Josh
